Is every thought my own?
We have an enemy. For Christians the enemy is only spirits of influence,
not a spirit of control.
Christians are responsible for their own actions.
John 10:10 Says The thief (Satan) cometh not, but for to steal, and
to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life,
and that they might have it more abundantly.
Satan has a 3 fold purpose. He comes to:
Steal - The eternal value from your life.
He does not want you to bloom fruit, bring others to Christ, or do any
other activity that will prosper the Kingdom of God!
We have rights! As a believer we have the right to joy, peace, and
the fruit of the Spirit. He wants to rob us from them all.
Kill – Satan cannot kill a believer without
God's permission, so he tries to oppress you into killing yourself
physically or he will try to kill your spiritual man!
How does Satan try to kill my physical or spiritual man?
Satan is only a spirit of influence. He or his underlings (fallen
angels) can only try to influence you as a believer into believing
what is contrary to the word of God! He tries to get you to believe
that you can’t do anything right, or that you are worthless, good for
nothing, no one loves you, you were just an accident...your parents
did not even want you! ect……….
These are all contrary to the word of God.
God’s word says that you are loved very much; so much that Christ died
for you. His word also says that you can do all things in Christ. God
even knew you before you were born and He even has a purpose for you.
Please read John 3:16, Phil: 4:13 Psalm 139:13-16.
Destroy – Satan tries to destroy your relationships
whether it be Family, Marital, Friends, Churches, Business, Health ect……..
He will try to destroy anything he can just to try to get your eyes
off of Christ. His favorite thing to destroy is a Marriage because
first of all it is a vow between God and man. It is one of the last
covenants the general man even thinks of making with God any more.
And if Satan can cause man to break it, he will cause man to grieve
God and cause great hardship among man, woman, and child. Divorce is
a tool Satan uses to take many eyes off of God!
How the enemy works !!!!!
Matthew 16 - 13: When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi,
he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I, the Son of
man, am?
14: And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some,
Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15: He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16: And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of
the living God.
17: And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona:
(Peter) for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my
Father (God) which is in heaven.
This is an excellent example of how man can receive a thought
from God. Jesus said Blessed are you Peter for this thought is not of
you but of God which art in Heaven!
Matthew 16- 21: From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his
disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things
of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be
raised again the third day.
22: Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far
from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23: But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan:
thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be
of God, but those that be of men.
This same Peter that Jesus just blessed a couple of verses
earlier is now being rebuked for speaking a thought that Satan put
into his head and has now spoken!
You see Jesus knew that the thought did not come from God,
but that it came from Satan. For Jesus said, get behind me Satan.
Jesus addressed the issue directly. Peter was acting out in
his flesh and was not taking his thoughts captive. This is why Jesus
also said for thou do not think the things that be of God, but those
that be of men.
Not every thought that pops into our heads are our own, some
are from God. Some are from Satan. Some are our own. This is why we
are to take every thought captive.
2Cor: 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing
that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Please be aware of this: Satan is an accuser. He will put
a thought in your head and then he will accuse you of thinking it.
How can we tell if a thought is of the enemy?
Usually, but not always, an enemy thought will be intruding you and
you will not be able to change it.
Your usual thoughts can go from one thought to another
without getting hung up on one in particular.
But an enemy thought will most likely go against the will of
God. For example: It could be a normal day at work...you are busily
working hard. The next thing you know you see a person of the opposite
sex walking down the aisle. You say hi and they say hi back. You have
no desire to know this person to any more extent, and you have no
sexual desire for them at all. The next thing you know you get hit
with a perverted thought of fornication or adultery, you try to think
of something else but this thought will not go away! No matter how
many times you try to change this thought you cannot change it! This
is an attack from the enemy! Satan is trying to influence you to take
an ungodly action. Satan cannot make you do this ungodly thing; he can
only try to influence you.
If a thought is put into your head by Satan and you did not
take it captive (processed it to see if it is Biblical or not) and you
act out on it, then Satan is controlling you. He has influenced you
and you accepted your actions!
You, as a believer in Christ Jesus, have the ability to
resist the devil. First, you must submit your thought to God then,
Satan will take that thought running!!
James:4:7: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.
Also Rom:6:14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are
not under the law, but under grace.
In conclusion, we must take every thought captive and compare it to
the word of God. If it goes against God’s will we must take that
thought and tell Satan,
I arrest that thought in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and it
has no right to be in my mind, I submit my mind and my actions to my
Lord Jesus Christ and command that thought to leave right now in Jesus
Name.
If that thought returns, say it again, sometimes the thought will
return later but the enemy must submit to God’s authority, which you
as a believer, have received through Jesus.
2Cor: 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Or if you have given Satan legal ground by acting on an imagination
or a thought,
say, I arrest that thought in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
and whatever (name it) ground I gave it to be in my mind or
life, I ask you Lord Jesus to Forgive me for acting on it and not
submitting my mind and my actions to you, Lord Jesus. Satan whatever
ground I have given you (name it) I have been forgiven and you have no
right to it any more, I command that thought to leave right now in
Jesus Name I solely belong to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Leave,
in Jesus Name!

1 John 5:12: He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the
Son of God hath not life. 13: These things have I written unto you
that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye
have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of
God. |
