What does the Bible say about
homosexuality?
Let's take a look and see. Genesis 1:27 says that God created man in his own
Image He created them male and female.
Let us think about what God said here. To do that we must take a look at
Gen. 1:26. In 26 Gods word says "Let us make man in Our image according to
Our likeness; So what is God's Image??? Is it a male with a male? Or a
female with a female? I think not, let us look at the Biblical understanding
of God's Image. First think about what God was saying when he said, "let
Us". Let Us reveals God, Jesus, and the Holy Sprit. The image of God is
first presented in a unique relation to a social or community concept of
God. God creates man and woman not as individuals, but two people; yet as we
see in Gen. 2:24 two are one. Therefore when God chose to create man in his
own image he chose to create a marriage, a family, a special community. Its
identity, life, and power come from God Almighty.
Gen. 2:24 says Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be
joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
To become one flesh carries Several implications, including sexual union,
child conception, spiritual and emotional union.
A man can not naturally impregnate another man. Nor can a woman naturally
impregnate another woman. Now lets read Gen. 1: 28.
Gen. 1:28 says GOD BLESSED THEM, and God said to them "Be fruitful and
multiply".
Again, a man and a man can not be fruitful and multiply, nor can a female
and a female be fruitful and multiply,
Therefore to practice homosexuality not only violates the divine intention
and order of human creation itself, it cannot obey the command God gave to
procreate! (To multiply).
Thus homosexuality distorts the image of God.
To practice homosexuality is to be in direct rebellion of God!!
The creation account is streamlined all throughout the Bible. Scripture
reveals the nature of man. From Genesis to Revelation the union between man
and woman is clearly expressed. For example, Isaiah 62:5 says, "For as a
young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as a
bridegroom rejoices over the bride. So shall your God rejoice over you…"
The city's new relationship with God is compared to the happiness of a
marriage. Rather than being called Deserted (cf. 62:12) or Desolate,
previous characteristics of the city, Jerusalem will be named Hephzibah ('my
delight is in her') and Beulah ('married one'). The words "so will your sons
marry you" (Jerusalem) imply that people again will live in Jerusalem and
God will be happy about the wonderful state of affairs.
Yahweh is portrayed as the faithful bridegroom, and Israel, the faithful's
bride, indicating that heterosexual love can be the basis for expressing the
mystery of God's loving the human race.
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the
church and gave Himself for her,
Ephesians 5:28 so husbands ought to love their own wives as their own
bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
The husband is compared with Christ and the wife with the church.
You can see that it is clear a husband is a male and a wife is a female.
Christ gave himself for her.
Revelation 19:7 "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the
marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready,".
Again Yahweh (Jesus) is portrayed as the faithful bridegroom, and Israel,
(The true church of Jesus the Christ) the faithful's bride, indicating that
heterosexual love can be the basis for expressing the mystery of God's
loving the human race.
In other words, all of Scripture is impregnated with the properness of
heterosexuality; by comparison, homosexuality is absent except by
condemnation.
God's judgment will fall on the morally bankrupt. Sodom and Gomorrah serve
as warning against others becoming like them. Genesis 19:4-7 Before [Lot and
the angels (who had appeared as men) had retired], all the men from every
part of the city of Sodom-both young and old-surrounded the house. They
called to Lot, "where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to
us so that we can have sex with them {k j v:' that we may know them']. 'Lot
went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him and said, "no, my
friends. Don't do this wicked thing" (niv).
You can also see this in 2 Peter 2:6 that Sodom and Gomorrah were condemned
to destruction making them an example to those who, afterward, would live
ungodly. Also reflecting on their destruction, Jude writes in Jude verse 7
"as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to
these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after
strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of
eternal fire.
Because of the homosexual acts of Sodom and Gomorrah God rained fire and
brimstone upon them destroying them. Read Gen.19: 24 (cf. Gen.18: 20)
The Levitical passages say this about homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22; 20:13)
Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable…If a man
lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is
detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own
heads…Not only is homosexuality an abomination to the Lord, it is also an
abomination to approve of it. Romans 1: 26, 27 for this reason God gave them
up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what
is against nature…Like also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman,
burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is
shameful and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was
due. Rom. 1:32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who
practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same, but also
approve of those who practice them.
(Please take heed to what is written, This is God's word not mine), who,
knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things
are deserving of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who
practice them.
Make no mistake if you are allowing homosexual shows to be viewed in your
home then you are showing approval. If you can sit and watch this kind of
direct rebellion of God, and you are not being seriously grieved then I
would seriously question your relationship with Christ.
Let's take a look at 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the
unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither
fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God.
Make no mistake this passage is translated correctly malakoi and
arsenokoitai have specific meanings. The former literally means "soft to the
touch." In Greek culture it was used metaphorically for males who partook of
the passive role in the homosexual act. The second term, arsenokoitai, also
clearly refers to homosexual relationships-specifically, to the person who
took the active role in the homosexual act.
In arsenokoitai, arsen refers to a "male" and koitai to "bed"-a word with
clear sexual connotations (cf. Hebrew 13:4). In other words, this term
refers to males who go to bed with other males. Or in the words of Thayer's
Greek-English Lexicon, "One who lies with a male as with a female."
Further, the entire section of 1 Corinthians 6:9ff is highlighted by the
word adiaoi-"the unrighteous." The terms referring to homosexuality are
found in connection with additional sexual sins-fornicators (pornoi) and
adulterers (moichoin). In other words, the meanings of the words themselves
and their context all argue for relevance to homosexual practices today.
Unrepentant homosexuality, fornication, and adultery all exclude one from
the kingdom of God.
A call to repentance:
In reflection of what you just read it becomes clear that homosexuality is
in direct rebellion of God, and to say that it is ok, or to approve of it
distorts His Image. Simply put that homosexuality is sin, sin is any thing
that we do that is displeasing to God.
We are all guilty of sin. Read Romans3:23 for all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God,
You may raise the question, if we all have sinned why should I leave my
homosexual ways, or you might say, I've tried to walk a way from it I just
can't seam to do it!
2 Peter 3:9 Says The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count
slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should
perish but that all should come to repentance.
You can walk a way from this sin, Paul say in 1 Corinthians 6: 11 and such
were some of you. He makes this statement after saying, Do you not know that
the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor
sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor
extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
Apparently some of them use to be homosexuals, take note they are no longer
homosexuals they were set free from there sins and they were not to live
like that any more.
Confess to God from you heart that you have been living a life of sin and
you are tired of displeasing Him.
If you want to take this first step and live a life according to His will
then I recommend a prayer similar to this:
Dear God:
I now recognize that homosexuality is displeasing to you. I confess my sin
before you, I ask you O lord to have mercy upon me, I recognize you as the
one true Holy God and my sin has separated me from You. I now receive Christ
Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior, I believe that He died on the cross
and rose from the dead three days later so that I by faith in Your Son can
know that all my sins have been forgiven. I am asking You Lord God to
empower me with the empowerment of the Holy Sprit so that by your power and
by your grace I may leave this sinful life behind. Satan I renounce any
ground that I have given to you in my past life, I ask you Lord God to fill
all areas of my life with your guidance and your wisdom. I thank you Lord
Jesus for delivering me from the suffering and vengeance of eternal fire.
Thank you for your mercy O Lord, I now resolve to seek your guidance in my
life. In Jesus name, Amen.
Please take note this was not written because God does not love you, it was
written because He does love you and he wants you to claim your freedom in
Christ Jesus, He wants to draw near to you. Don't let Satan lie to you, God
does love you but He can not accept you until you accept him, Please accept
Jesus Today! There might not be a tomorrow…
Sincerely, Gods Humble Servant
